In the wake of Tulane’s coach resigning midweek, the University of Memphis football team was finally able to secure its first win in Conference USA under coach Larry Porter.

True freshman quarterback Taylor Reed passed for 213 yards and two scores as the Tigers (2-6, 1-3 Conference USA) scored 19 unanswered points in the second half to dispose of the Green Wave, 33-17, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

It was the first win in C-USA for the Tigers since a 35-20 victory against UTEP in 2009. Since then, the Tigers had dropped 16 straight league games.

The Memphis defense forced three turnovers, one of which was an interception that true freshman defensive back Bobby McCain returned 79 yards for the score in the third quarter.
