One week after entering the preseason coaches' poll at No. 9, the University of Memphis opened the Associated Press voters' poll as the No. 11 team in the country.

The Tigers, who return almost everyone from last year‘s roster, were eliminated by Arizona in the second round of the NCAA tournament in March. They entered the AP polls last year at No. 19.

Memphis received 997 points in the poll.

True to the form of last week's coaches' poll, North Carolina entered at No. 1, receiving 62 first-place votes. Kentucky, Ohio State, Connecticut, and Syracuse rounded out the top five.

The Tigers open their regular season Nov. 15 against Belmont at FedExForum. They begin exhibition play next Wednesday against LeMoyne-Owen.
