Watson commits to Tigers

University of Memphis coach Justin Fuente's connections in Texas paid off once again Wednesday.

University of Memphis coach Justin Fuente's connections in Texas paid off once again Wednesday.

Anthony Watson, a 6-foot-1 defensive back from Blinn Community College (Brenham, Texas) chose the Tigers over Kansas State. Watson officially visited Memphis two weeks ago and Kansas State one week ago.

Watson is the 16th commitment in the Tigers' 2012 recruiting class.

Watson's Scout.com evaluation: Large cornerback in high school, he might have to play safety in college, though outside linebacker is even a possibility. Very good against the run where he likes to fly in and lay on a big hit. He is always around the ball and has a good feel for where it is going. Needs to get better in coverage which is behind his development as run support. Good athlete also.
