ST. LOUIS, Mo. - With almost as much suspense as the national title game of 2008, the No. 1 University of Kansas basketball team outlasted Memphis, 57-55, at the Scottrade Center in the Hall of Fame Classic. A last second missed three by Memphis preserved the KU win.   Full Story

The Cougars could have their third starting quarterback in five weeks when they play Saturday at Oregon. WSU coach Paul Wulff did not discount that possibility during his Sunday news conference, but added that a decision between sophomore Marshall Lobbestael and true freshman Jeff Tuel won't be determined until Monday at the earliest. Memphis got the book tossed at it for allegations of playing an ineligible player the NCAA twice cleared to play; Duke played a player that admitted he took cash and was thus never eligible to play college basketball, and faced no sanctions. The Memphis Tigers simply did what they do, which is play the very best defense in the nation en route to their fourth consecutive Conference USA title,. The Tigers defeated the second-seeded Tulsa Golden Hurricane, 64-39 to run their national best winning streak to 25 games, as well as their C-USA winning streak to 61 consecutive games.    Full Story

To no one’s surprise, the Most Outstanding Player Award goes to UCF’s dynamic shooting guard, Jermaine Taylor, who led the conference in scoring with a 26.6 ppg. average, setting a new C-USA record.   Full Story

The Memphis Tigers continue to flex their muscles, as they stay perfect in conference and are the hottest team in the nation with 19 consecutive wins. Rice and Marshall both recorded their first conference road victories of the season, as Rice overcame a record-setting performance by the great Jermaine Taylor. Memphis-UCF was billed as a heavyweight fight and through much of the game, it lived up and exceeded all expectations as the Knights matched the superior sized, national power Memphis Tigers. Still, the Knights couldn’t find enough offense at the end of the game and fell 73-66 in front of a record crowd of 9,825 at the UCF Arena.    Full Story

The UCF Knights will play their most important basketball game in school history on Saturday evening as the Knights play host to the national runner-up Memphis Tigers. Although Memphis lost superstar point guard and top overall draft pick Derrick Rose, as well as Chris Douglas-Roberts, the team is still the class of the Conference USA.    Full Story
